He wasn't making a pro-suicide argument, though.

He was describing the rationale of suicidal men as one that doesn't necessarily stem from mental illness. Just because something can be logically worked through, it doesn't mean it's true.

His main purpose was to highlight that male suicidality stems from material conditions individual to men, as opposed to the relative mysteriousness of mental health.
