This is North Pond lake in Maine. One of the most remote places in the US. Nothing but 700 acres of North Atlantic forests cover. If you want to get away from humans this is the place you go to.

There was an urban legend tho of a ghost that stole things. Literally 3 decades of houses break ins, robberies, burglary and no one knew who was responsible

In April 2013, Police arrested a man named christopher Thomas Knight and after learning about his background story. It blew their minds.

He was an actual hermit. Living in these forests for 3 decades without speaking to a single person. The only time he spoke to someone was 28 years ago, only said a Hi to a hiker thats it. He started living the life of a hermit when he was 20 years old and since then been living like this.

He didn't know what year it was or what an internet even means. The only thing he actually owned was a pair of glasses from high school everything else was stolen. He made a living by hunting, farming and stealing by breaking into people's cabins for supplies. He got sentenced for 7 years in prison and after getting out again started living his hermit life in rural maine

This guy was a hero to me. I don't think he got 7 years though. I know he had mad respect in the jail after he was finally caught.

I personally wouldn't want the total lack of human contact but in another life I could have been very happy doing what he did.
