I often see antinatalist people on Reddit talking about how they don't want to bring babies into this cruel world and that reproducing is almost always a bad thing. I totally hate the idea but what do you guys think?

People don't act on the babies' behalf, they act on their own self interest. They're not antinatalist because "they don't want to bring babies into this cruel world", it's because they are either depressed, unhappy with their dating life, young, or focused on their career. What are you going to do when you're 40+ without kids? How about 60+? That's why people have kids, because waking up and going to work everyday doing the same shit doesn't make them happy anymore so they decide to live vicariously through their kids to find a reason to keep living. Also in some cultures kids take care of their elderly parents so they don't get stuffed into a nursing home.

This is the true "crabs in a bucket" mentality. You know that your life will be miserable without copes, so you create new life (that will inevitably be miserable without copes) in order for you to cope.

It's not a natural idea, but I am in favor of it and will be happy as an antinatalist. I can't be bothered to spend so much of my time, money and energy raising someone just for them to also experience a lot of hurdles and suffering in life.

There's no need to reproduce at all. And if you want to do anything other than father a bunch of kids for the rest of your life, it's better not to have kids.

A lot of them had children, but a lot of them regretted it. Augustus Caesar is the only example I have in mind, but there were lists of hundreds of prominent figures who were anti-natalist or had children and regretted it.
