yeah that combo actually works really well if you dose it right. low-dose iso (like 5-10mg/day or even eod) can clean up skin, control oil, and keep acne under control long-term without nuking your lipids or joints. pairing it with a topical retinoid like tret or tazarotene just enhances the effect, iso clears things from the inside, retinoids keep turnover high from the outside.

just don’t start both at full strength right away. if you’re running iso, ease into the topical (like tret 0.025% or taz 0.05% 2-3x a week first). both thin the skin and increase sensitivity, so layering them too aggressively will wreck your barrier.

also keep moisturizers and sunscreen consistent, ceramide-based ones like CeraVe or La Roche are fine.
