Is mequinol 2% better than hydroquinone 4%, for skin whitening/lightening? Is mequinol better to use for a longer term than hydroquinone? Which cream will have white skin lasting longer? Just wondering, I have both (just started using hydroquinone a week ago) and I am wondering how to go about this. My low inhibition dumbass obviously bought this with little information and purchased these creams from a website I discovered long ago skinorac.org .

  • Hydroquinone 4%: Stronger, faster results but not ideal for long-term use (limit to 3-4 months). Prolonged use risks skin discoloration (exogenous ochronosis). Best for short-term intensive lightening.
  • Mequinol 2%: Gentler, safer for long-term/maintenance use, but results are slower and less dramatic.
Best Approach:
  1. Use hydroquinone for up to 3 months.
  2. Switch to mequinol for maintenance after cycling off hydroquinone.
  3. Always wear sunscreen (SPF 30+) to maintain results and avoid repigmentation.
