depending on where it is placed yes and regardless it will affect nose due to it splitting the mid palatal suture. Most people do not need marpe/mse unless you have breathing issues or a crossbite. It rarely ascends people and has high asymmerty chances though if you know what your doing and research it enough and find a ortho who can place the device in a way that can fix ur asymmerty yes it could help. Or if one side of ur palate is more expanded on one side they can place in a way for example left side is more expanded they will angle it to push off the left side into the right while expanding the right side more and expanding the left side less. This is hard to do and takes cbct scans and planning as I wrote in my other threads on how to use it to fix asymmetry.
