Physiognomy is the practice of judging a person's character, personality, or temperament from their outer appearance, especially facial features.

I think there are 3 camps of beliefs.

1. It’s utter bullshit

2. It has some merit

3. It does not actually tell you about their temperament and personality but people still use certain facial features and shapes to draw judgment. Ex. “He has wide set round eyes with a long midface he must be smart.” Vs “compact midface narrow eyes, low set eye brows-he must be Brutish.

What do you guys think

Def 3, I do think there is a high degree of merit for physiognomy, and I’d be curious to see more conclusive studies done on it. That said, I am doubtful that gauging someone’s personality based on their facial features makes sense, although it could be said to at perhaps one’s environment impacts physiognomy, hence also dictating their personality.

It's just pattern recognition. It's right most of the time.
