Thread for those afraid of death...

Realize that "you" do not exist. There is no soul. You are not a "person". All "you" are is just a brains manifestation of a consciousness in order to keep the body surviving. The reason there are different personalities is because different brains do different behaviors and learn different patterns to match their lifestyles and survive. Not everyone has the same environment to live in, and even in one location an environment can change between just a few decades. That's why you aren't like other animals who come out of the womb automatically knowing what to do in this life. You have to learn language, and everything about life because the brain that "you" are has to figure out the reality you live in and how to survive it.

The only reason "you" are afraid to die is because "you" are a brain who has genetic premade instincts in order to keep your body surviving, and continuing to move. Just remember that nothing matters after you die, because you can't enjoy this world if you aren't experiencing it. From your perspective, the world ends when you die, so there's nothing to miss out on.

I may fear pain and death but I have taught myself and learned that this is just my instincts. I am not really important at all. All "Native" is, is a bit of genetic (rather trash) code, that manifests a brain as it's CPU and hard drive, with it's organs to keep it running, and an all "Native" is, is just the operating system running on this brain. Once my genetic code reproduces and makes a new version of itself (nature's way of fighting the 2nd law of thermodynamics, entropy), I can be disposed of by the laws of entropy (aka death) and all that is "me" will be deleted as my brain no longer has a steady power supply, aka my heart is not running or another health complication like that.

You are just a moist robot, the operating system meant to keep this machine running, and you aren't really important at all. You are a slave to your instincts and will inevitably be deleted one day. Besides, I don't want to live forever anyway. I shouldn't anyway, I'm disgusting, and evil.

What the fuck would I do for all of time anyway? Imagine being a human for millions and millions of years. It would get so fucking boring because eventually you would do everything there is to do. Even 100 years feels like you've done everything in life, imagine 1000 years. And then remember that religion promises you eternity, which is more than 100,000 years. At a certain point it just becomes ridiculous. And I didn't choose these instincts. They are merely part of the brain that I am. I was raised with these instincts written in my genetic makeup.

Also the claim "I'm afraid of the unknown and the darkness of death" isn't a legitimate claim either. Every night you willingly enter a state of practical unconsciousness called sleep. You willingly enter the darkness and willingly accept the fate that you live because your brain by instinct pushed you to go to sleep. Your brain (you) will also pull you away from death, but recognize this and understand that it's just the same. As it's been said, sleep is the cousin of death, because they are quite truly the same concept. The only difference is you wake up, but you don't go to sleep saying "I can't wait to wake up" you say, "I can't wait to go to sleep" because your brain pushes you towards what it wants, and pulls away from what it doesn't.

It's brutal adding this information to your hard drive, but it will better help you be ready for the inevitable power loss that will come one day, death.

I am not even a new being. I am really my ancestors. My ancestors while their personalities and person might have died long ago, the only part that actually mattered biologically (their DNA) lives right on to this day in me. I am as old as the first living organism, because that is me.

You are just the operating system, the software, running on the hardware that is your brain. The software (you) is made to help the hardware keep running and do it's functions. You are exactly like a computer in every way.

All death is is just your brain (the hardware) not getting a stable power supply. Whether that be lack of oxygen (lung cancer), lack of blood (heart failure), or some other cause, that triggers the other organs to fail. When the hardware fails, the software just shuts off and stops working.

Theoretically this means if you could figure out how to give a stable power supply to a preserved brain, no matter how old it is it would be able to make thought. It wouldn't be able to hear you, touch you, see you, or even know what's going on, but it would just be able to think. Kind of a living hell actually but in theory that's how it would work.

Yes, “consciousness” doesn’t exist.
Consciousness is just the awareness of the thought process. In theory, you are no different from a rock except you realize that you are functioning.

There is nothing beneath thoughts, thoughts are the deepest level of a human being. Beyond thoughts you are nothing
And thoughts are just neural connections

Ye ive thought and understand everything uve said
But why in the ever living fuck would u be the spectator in ur specific brain
And how can any other consciousness exist when they are not u
And why the fuck would anything exist
Nothing makes sense
But maybe sense is a man made aspect
Maybe nonsensical stuff can exist just like logical stuff

“consciousness” doesn’t exist
Then how do u explain that you is you
your seeing through ur eyes. Who is the spectator that receives everything
Think of it as a videogame
Who is the source
Its you
I am God

niggas are trippin in this thread

"You" are just a brain that is firing correctly in a skull. The only difference is the brain that is me is currently manifesting "Native", and not you.

Also this is really hard to express with words because the English language is built around the concept that individuals do exist as actual entities, so I'm having a hard time expressing the brain that is user "tapout" without saying the word "you" or "your" which implies you are a soul separate from the brain.

You are there to watch thoughts come and go and if you can do then how on earth can thoughts be the deepest level.

So what? Not every desire to live comes from instinct. I had an incredibly strong desire to live always, and absolute zero instinct of procreation/wanting to have offspring.

Yet another water wet. boohoo im not special, im just a sack of flesh. We all know that. The fact that you are not special, that you don't have a purpose, that our existence as biological organisms is purposeles should actually fill you with the will to live, instead of accepting death as another cog of the generational evolutionary structure.

"immortality would be boring" bingo argument is so overused its ridiculous. Just think about if you would have born (immortal of course) in the middle ages, all the crazy shit and incredible changes in everything that surrounds you you would have experienced in 500 years. I'm 32 years old and I still feel like a newborn child in that department while lots of people already act like old geezers tired of life.

Terrible misconception, as we don't lose consciousness entirely during sleep. If you don't remember your dreams tha's on you but you have a basically seamless consciousness experience all along the night. It's not nearly the same as being dead. Also yet agan "muh robot piloted by instincts" with yet again shit found in elementary school about trains of trought and basic desires/needs.

It's brutal adding this information to your hard drive, but it will better help you be ready for the inevitable power loss that will come one day, death.
Fuck no its not brutal at all, every fucking teenager knows this already, don't act like this is some nihilistic epiphany.

blah blah more nonsense trying to justify lack of will to exist trough "dissapointment" from the lack of a special origin for our identity.
The fact that life doesnt have any objective meaning doesn't interfere with your subjective experience of existence.

TL.DR: "weee fearing death is pointless living forever is boring and we are just sacks of unimportant flesh/insert obvious shit disguised as some mind crushing dark revelation" is not an argument agaisnt immortality.

Shit that I learnt ages ago in textbooks in class. I don't know if you all are trying to be edgy and "depressing" or something but does anyone really expect for some magical shiny bright meaningful soul to be piloting their bodies? We are taught that we are another species of animal since young already why does everyone think this is some revelation?

Why does it matter what are we composed of or how do we work in order to determine if existing is worth it? The experience of existence and our ability (no matter how its achieved) of being aware is what matters, instead of valuing existence based on how mundane our inner works are.

To experience nothing is literally impossible. I hate the "do you remember before you were born" fallacy. The universe begins for people when they are born in a way. Once you feel the experience of consciousness, how do you not know what it feels like anymore when you die? NDE's are very interesting imo and the fact that we as humans can contextualize our existence to this level while other animals can't even do the most basic shit says something.

Yeah the fact that we don't actually experience death does not making it comforting. I know I didnt exist until born. I know I won't exist nor be aware of it when dead. But i love the experience of existing (now that I do) and don't wish to interrupt it.

I mean sure, but I am of the belief that everything in the universe balances out. You lose your sense of self forever, but you, the consciousness does reappear again in some form. The universe takes, but it also gives back.

This I saw too. Honestly I don't know why life needs an objective meaning to be worth experiencing. In fact, an objective meaning on top of everything would make us even more slaves than we are already to biology and nature.

Ppl need objective meaning because they need a direction in life, without it they feel worthless

Yeah this is what concerns me about death. Breaking the continuity of my self awareness. I mean I wouldn't even care about being "wiped" like in the reincarnation belief as long as the next form of existence is conscious and it's "me".

One of the theories of the far far future in a heat death scenario (if the big rip scenario isn't true, and I think evidence points to it not being that.) is that after arbitrarily long time, quantum fuctuations may occur to such an extent that they cause the spontaneous formation of a new universe. There isn't anything I know to substantiate if this is what will happen-- we're still not sure if proton decay will happen or not, and this would is so unlikely that it wouldn't happen for an inconceivable amount of time luckily, the universe will be cold and dark and empty and time will pass no matter what

I don't worry about it because "nothing" can't exist. I just know that shit will happen again and that this universe i PALES in comparison to what is out there.
