Thumb Pulling?

Does thumb pulling actually do anything? Obviously its closely associated with all of Oscars bs but I also hear a lot of people say it works. I mean even if it just improves your pallet by 1% that's still improvement yk

If we compare it to something like MARPE, which does expand your palate:

- MARPE applies a consistent and significant amount of force throughout the day.
- Thumbpulling is fingering your mouth for a bit and hoping shit happens. Nowhere near enough force or consistency.

- MARPE is directly connected to the midpalatal suture, making it actually effective in changing the maxilla.
- Thumbpulling just moves soft tissue at the roof of your mouth. It doesn't affect the actual maxilla.

How expensive is MARPE and for how long is it effective? Cause I'm 17 so I don't really have any money but on the other hand the bones should be more movable
