Thumbpulling is absolute to cope we all know that, but I'm curious to know why do people keep mentioning when it comes to forward growth of the maxilla, what's the logic behind it?
Thumbpulling is meant to mimic the action of a palate expander or MSE, which work by widening the palate, so what's exactly the relation between that and forward growth? The expansion is supposed to be transversal, not sagittal. Of course, by expanding the maxilla there's always going to be even the tiniest amount of growth forward, but that growth is almost non-significant and definitely won't be enough to fix a recessed maxilla.
So I ask, what's even the idea there? I actually want to figure out how did people come up with the conclusion that thumbpulling will improve forward growth.
