Is there a headgear-like device out there that can either face pull or thumb pull for me while I sleep and doesn’t require a dentist to mold it for me?

are you retard??it can cause severe problems if you do it overnight

yes but it's for forward growth:

called a facemask:

"

General Instructions

The Facemask Appliance is used in patients that present with a “Class III malocclusion” or “underbite”. The body does most of its daily growth roughly between 4 PM and 6 AM—the greatest degree of Facemask wear between those hours tends to yield the best results. Placing the appliance before or immediately following dinner up until snack/bathing and then all night will optimize results.
"

again this isn't any advice i'm giving and you will likely get dog shit results if you don't do A LOT MORE RESEARCH into this field, I'm assuming you haven't cause you are asking this question and seem like a noob.

But this is just for underbite. Say i have a narrow pallette and want the effect ot thumb pulling with lateral force not just horizontal. Is there something like this for thay?

yes you can get it from bracesshop, some user maybe a post about him using it a while ago but it may have just been an ad.

again bro your not gonna know how to fucking use it unless you become almost expert level in the field so just go to your ortho if you want one, i gurantee you will cause asymteries and fuck your entire facial strucutre up if you do it yourself like this.

here is the source though:
https://www.bracesshop.com/en/

also important to note if you are past 16 this probaly not going to do shit because it wil just be a tooth brone expander which only expands the teeth and not the pallete cause the pallete sutures are fused so it won't be doing pallete expansion, if you are above 16 u are going to need a orthodnotic installer pallete expander and likely a surgery so that the pallete doesn't return to orignal size again

again, i can tell you don't really know much, do not do this

just stick to thumbpulling, the noraml chintucks, chewing, mewing, posture, etc. and you will be fine

thumbpulling will act as the expander in this cause and mewing will be sort of the "surgery equivalent" as it will ensure that the pallete doesn't return to original size.

again if you down the route THAT I HIGHYL RECOMMEND, you need to be very commited and hard working to get results.

What if I wear a retainer at night? Will this prevent thumb pulling gains?

Yes retainer prevents lateral expansion of pallete but you can likely still achieve forward growth even with retainer
What’s a good solution then? My teeth are straight from the retainer and if I pursue lateral widening my teeth would distort. And what do you believe about face pulling with a towel (biting on it at the molars and pulling the face forward and up)

I’d recommend watching Mike Mew’s video on it he talks about the trade offs of wearing it and not wearing it . If ur still in puberty and take it off there is a small chance you get facial gains but you may get. crooked teeth which would require you to get I invidlaifn or something to fix malocclusion

I haven’t personally tried this method YET but from what I can tell and from my research it seems that it does work in expand the pallete but only if your sutures aren’t fused yet (before 16). If sutures are fused it’s a lot harder to expand and also the resize may go back to normal if not mewing 24/7. Granted, doing this with sutures fused probably will just make your teeth point outwards and not expand the pallete if the sutures are fused cause it’s like using a tooth borne expander. If ur under 16 I’d maybe try it.

That video you sent was absolutely perfect for me. Just got an Essex retainer and it’s still a little tight on me but I’ll let it get comfortable for a bit then transition to just the front teeth holders (I wasn’t sure what exactly Mike new called these, do you know what he was talking about?) and continue good oral posture. Maybe that will allow my teeth to expand out a bit as I mew most of the day. Could also be used in conjunction with light towel pulling to promote forward growth.

I have a crude setup where I clench down on two sides of a towel hung around the base of a chair such that it pulls my face forward and outward laterally. In theory I’d expect it to work but maybe I should hold off until I get this retainer off. What do you think?

Oh and btw I’m above 20 for reference

This sounds like a good DIY at home orthodontic setup for lateral dental arch expansion. something I would be careful with is if you are using towel pull for forward growth (you pull on the towel with incisors) then you will likely end up with horse teeth ( top incisors pointing outward) granted that’s if you don’t wear the retainer as a sort of “reset”. If you wear the retainer it’s fine cause you can still get forward growth without messing up teeth positioning.

Good luck and update us on how it goes, make sure to take pics to for visible progress.

But if i wear the retainer AND do orthodontic exercises like facepulling, will that do anything? I feel like itll just make my teeth hurt more since im trying to resist the retainer. I'm thinking I should get onto a fixed retainer on the top 4 bottom 6 like Mew said just to maintain a proper smile and retain progress while allowing the rest of the teeth to move. I feel like at this point Id have full freedom to do as I please orthodontically. But at the same time, it would be easier to just keep the current retainer and not have to deal with a 4-5 year implant on the back surface of my teeth. What do you think?

Also, do you know of any sort of devices on the market that allow for facepulling while laying down by just biting down (at the molars not the incisors) ? I used to do it with my hands but the limiting factor is the sustained tension in my arms which gives out after max a few minutes. But laying down I can use the weight of my head to pull me down and be in that position for as long as need be.

1. So first off yes wearing the retainer and doing thumb pulling will sort of “fight against each other” and will do nothing FOR LATERAL FROWTH OF THR PALLETE. Wearing the essix retainer only restricts lateral pallete growth but you can still achieve forward growth via thumb pulling while wearing retainer.
2. I think the permanent retainer is a very good option which I’m also considering myself as yes it does give full orthodontic control over pallete (still looking into if it causes lisp, bothers tongue and mewing, etc.) . Everything has trade offs here with the retainer which is why it suckd and it’s much superior being born with straight teeth and wide pallete
3. Apart from a pallete expander from your ortho or bracesshop, some users on this site and On lookism (I believe) made 3d printed STL files you can print and they act as thumb pulling by putting the piece of plastic in ur pallete. You can also use pillers and put a cloth on it and pull apart and put it in ur pallete. Also chin tucking 24/7 (not as much force) also forces expansion by putting tongue on roof of mouth with greater force than normal mewing cause ur using neck muscles.
Thanks.

At the end of the day, pallete expander and surgery for sutures is probaky the best option along with a face mask for forward growth. Then using Invisalign to straighten teeth. Save up for that

What do you think about just cutting my essix so that it covers the top 4 and bottom 6 teeth? This way I retain the artificial straightness from my Invisalign while allowing for lateral expansion and such? One of the more annoying things is that my retainer leaves me with a slight gap in my back teeth and I feel like it could solve that too but of course it may just mess things up further. Thoughts?

Never actually thought of this. That's pretty smart tbh. It should act similar to the permanent retainer with the wire but I'm not sure how effective the essix retainer will be once you cut the side and if it would still hold integretiy and be strong enough to hold the teeth together as it is missing the ends. If it does hold its integretiy it's a pretty good idea. Try it out and let us know.,

Yeah I’m just a bit scared to fuck it up and throw a couple hundred down the drain (damn the dentists and their overpriced plastic). They won’t even give me the raw files cuz it’s their property smh. Would pay 20 bucks for a buddy to get it done on his printer if I could lol.

Do you know if there’s any other purpose to the behind the teeth wires that’s different from plastic? I feel like maybe the value of it would be that it’s 24/7 so there’s no wobbling from night time use vs day time without it. But then again I have the freedom to remove it anytime, and the wires could always backfire with it cutting the tip of my tongue.

Oh and id hate to be a Guinea pig here lmao. Would rather they test it on a few hundred foreigners beforehand but the science behind it is absurdly basic and I don’t think it’s any great harm.

atp js get implants
Nah I think I might create a tripod looking setup with a special towel made to be bit down on by the molars and maybe it has some extra additions to make even lateral and forward growth as easy and laying down and biting for however long you can.

Dude stop
Idk ur background but pm me if ur interested in helping me design such a device.

Main thing I’m thinking is if you cut the Essex retainer I’m not sure the structural integrity will hold and be strong enough to hold the front teeth together as it’s missing the ending part that closes which makes it strong and holds the entire structure together.

If this worked I believe orthodontists would implement this as opposed to a permanent retainer as it would allow the pallete to expand over time while sainting straight teeth

What if we connected the cut top and bottom retainers then with something that doesn’t impede the bite space? This way you have structural support supported by the other part of the retainer as per the Invisalign bite that you molded into.

I’m gonna make a new post rn asking some more autists who know about this shit their opinions.
