wait the same thing happened with me one time, like they used the same scenario of the kids being home and asking me to pay for steam card. i almost fell for it, but i googled it right before because i could feel my spidey senses tingling, and lo and behold-

Someone on quora described this exact story and tactic they use.

After reading the quora post i decided to get the last laugh on this guy. i google imaged some pics of previous steam cards, and sent it to him. turns out he spent like 20 min entering in the data from the steam card before realizing they had already been used and were invalid.

Lesson learned: Never pay anyone that you only meet online and haven’t met in person yet. if it seems too good to be true it usually is
