Get it trimmed on the sides and just a little bit off the top. Otherwise, your current hair length is good.

It's different for everyone I guess. But, I don't think OP has the robust bones to suit a shorter haircut. I keep my hair longer for the same reason.

Yeah somewhere around that length on the top should work. It's your choice whether you want a skin fade vs. longer hair on the sides though.
