if an event happens, and you get sad, then it can get better and your happy, but if sadness doesn't exist, then something bad happens, you will still be the same

if something good happens though, you won't actually feel happy, you will feel nothing, that's how it works

But here's my take
You can be sad all the time, the emotion wont get diluted even after months, on the other hand, you can't feel happy for months, you'll quickly get bored because of the lack of contrast with bad emotions.

Darkness is permanent, in order to subvert it you need power (light) but it’s temporary and destined to vanish.
