you dont have to look like gandy or lachowski to get a gf, if you look around you'll find a lot of low-tier normies dating cute girls waaay out of their league. most of the time if you just ask, the girl will most likely be too scared to say no to you and give you a chance, and if she doesn't, you win some you lose some. mainly it kinda depends on status as well, especially in high school. I've seen many guys who are unpopular but are ugly as hell getting with girls out of their league, I've also seen unpopular chads dating ugly girls just because they're in their inner circle and they're too awkward to get someone better. persistence is key as well, if your looking for love it might be harder to find someone because the relationships where the girl is out of the guys league don't usually last, but I've known people who dated only to fuck and after that, they just left.
