to love is painful, to not know love is painful

To love someone hurts. You care for them. You now have to think about the wellbeing of someone other than yourself. You begin to fear for them. You begin to hurt for them. You are no longer just you, but them as well.

But to not love is also painful. You never know the companionship. You never know the memories. You never know the passion, the joy.

And this is a zoomed in view at life in general; whatever the choice is, pain is the skeleton which props it up.
