Today was a pretty big step for me. For the first time, I did a cold approach. I’ve been wanting to overcome my social anxiety, and I figured today was as good as any day to start.
There was this British exchange student at the grocery store here in Spain. I noticed her from the moment I walked in. She had that kind of vibe that made me think, "I could probably talk to her." So, I decided to go for it.
I’ve been watching a lot of Andrew Tate stuff lately, so I figured I’d try one of his pickup lines. I went up, told her she was cute, and asked for her Instagram. Honestly, it felt awkward. It wasn’t smooth, and I could tell she wasn’t super into it. She was polite, though, and just said she didn’t give out her Instagram like that.
Didn’t work out, obviously. But honestly, I’m not upset. It’s weirdly freeing to just go for it, even if it doesn’t lead anywhere. I used to be terrified of doing anything like that, but today, I just did it. I broke the barrier.
She was nice, at least, and didn’t brush me off completely. The fact that I approached her in the first place was a big win for me. My social anxiety is a monster I’ve been trying to tackle for years, and this feels like a small victory, even if the outcome wasn’t what I hoped.
So yeah, not a success in terms of getting her number or anything, but I feel good about taking that first step. It’s a win in my book, and I’ll keep trying.
