I am a narcissist and it's likely to have been inherited. Both my parents are narcissistic to a degree. I also had the environment for it growing up as I was told by my parents that I was better than everyone else, and it was reinforced by my high performance in primary school. Secondary school taught me that I'm actually pretty average and has led to me being very depressed. It also makes it impossible for me to form true connections with people.

Narcissism is way deeper than that. It means I am completely unable to be open with people. That stops me from having friends because the foundation for friendship is common ground. Or even better shared flaws. I have never experienced how it feels to have a true friend where conversation feels natural and regenerative

I inherited it from my dad. He was an alcoholic with obvious NPD and some other stuff. It's genetic I think.

Yeah. To be honest I think I have sociopathy from neglect in my childhood but you would never know anyway unless I mentioned it. It's mainly an internal thing, I just lack basic levels of empathy and think very highly of myself. If you have one disorder you probably have multiple.
