I have an appointment tomorrow with a doctor who performs MSE. If MSE is an option, I’ll also ask for Herbst. Additionally, if definitely needed, we’ll plan for BSSO and genio, and possibly LeFort 1 surgery.
I checked the doctor’s Instagram. I didn’t see perfect cases in terms of MSE and surgeries, but there are a few good ones.
I’m not exactly sure what to say. I’ll show my morphs, explain that I take the low success probability seriously, and share my own plans.
He’ll probably say my upper palate isn’t narrow based on the measurements. But for me, the high arch structure, zygomatic and orbital asymmetry, increased lip width, and achieving a 10–12 teeth smile are all important “side effects.” I will emphasize these points.
I’ll say that I accept the risks and that this is not a conventional treatment — rather, it’s an approach to benefit from certain side effects.
I know Herbst has a low success rate at my age, but I think there’s no harm in trying.
Lastly, I’ll ask if he can reduce the fee or offer long-term installments. I already paid another orthodontist, and I really don’t want to pay more. I know this is part of the ascension process, so there’s not much to do — but it will seriously strain my budget.
MSE is important to me because it may help with lip width, potentially correcting zygomatic asymmetry, and improving canthal tilt. If we can achieve up to 20 degrees of change in canthal tilt, that would be amazing. And if we can also correct orbital asymmetry during this process, that would be a very satisfying result for me.
