Sounds stupid but i was thinking of starting the gym tomorow but i dont know what exercises to do and ill have to go alone as my friends dont want to for like 2 more weeks for some reason.
For context im 16 and have a decent physique (probably slightly above average from homeworkouts)
Anyway how do i not look like a tard

Just search up a workout plan on youtube

Nothing wrong with searching up to use a machine while on it lol

I did it all the time

i don't think anyone is gonna judge that hard; you can let people know and ask others how you use a machine, etc. you can't be that antisocial like you can't be afraid to make mistakes when you start and whatnot and you can search up a tutorial like the other guy said and find the exercises and area you wanna target and what machines and reps you may wanna do to target said area.

just do your workouts dont overthink it im thinking about actually going to the gym soon too since i only have adjustable dumbells a bench and a treadmill, and it depends on if you want an aesthetic physique or if your just working out to work out.

Yea ig but also i just dont know the gym etiquette. Ill watch a few vids rn and try memorise a routine or smth i suppose..
Also are you supposed to stay at the same machine in between sets

bro just walk in with your headphones on and look straight ahead nobody is watching you or cares what youre doing since everyone is too focused on themselves. since you already got a base from home workouts just start simple with a basic push pull legs split or upper lower so you arent standing around looking lost. hit bench press or dumbells for push, pullups or rows for pull, and squats or leg press for legs, keeping sets around 3 to 4 with solid form. do not ego lift heavy weight right away or you will look like a total clown struggling on camera, just lock in, get your sets done, and get out.

Also real quick.. you suggested ppl but if i do only 1 exercise each day i go to the gym i dont think thats enough

Your problem is not that you don't know what to do in the gym, it's that you believe that not knowing what to do is a problem. Every gymrat has walked in for the first time without knowing what to do at some point in their life. Go to the gym. It's ok if you feel like an idiot and you think everyone is staring at you. It's ok if you feel uncomfortable and don't know what exercises to do. That is the only way to learn. Discomfort is not a problem and looking/feeling like an idiot is not a problem. Lean into it and accept the discomfort.

I went today but for some reason they made me do an induction lesson and when i went to one of the machines i sat on it backwards which was kinda embarrassing. Overall it was chill tho and there was barely anyone there anyway.. also some old woman working there said i needed a passport to prove my age so i couldnt work out normally but whatever

Yea gyms can be predatory, they were probably trying to sell u some personal training or something with the intro lesson. You just gotta ignore that stuff.

That's sick that u went tho. Keep going and eventually you'll feel totally confident in what you're doing.

As for the passport it's probably cuz you're young. Likely just a one time thing.
