I had to have a tooth removed from the back I'm afraid that this will affect my jaw can an implant in the root of the tooth prevent this?

wisdom or an actual tooth?

If you can afford an implant, get one definately, otherwise you'll end up like me with one side of your jawline disappearing.

Premolars are characteristically the ones that absolutely destroy your face when extracted

If they are very in the back and you didn't make contact with them on the regular, you're likely good. but still look into it anyway

Premolar extraction makes you age faster, and can cause functional problems in the future, like TMJ, sleep apnea and so on

Avoid this unless you really need

Yep I'd rather live with bimax protrusion than deal with those problems later on.
