tooth extractions cause jaw recession?

i have had braces for a long time to fix my overjet+ overbite , the overjet is fixed now there is still a decent amount of overbite , i had on tooth extracted from my upper jaw (check the pic) , my dentist said she will extract one tooth from my upper jaw and 2 more teeth from my lower jaw to balance it out or sum , i already have like a fat face, recessed chin due to mouth breathing , will this cause my jaw to get worse

U should avoid it since extractions cause loss of the surrounding bone (Alveolar ridge resorption) and this starts soon after the tooth is removed.

up to abt 60% of that bone loss is permanent. Orthodontic treatment then uses that space by pulling teeth back, which can retract the dental arch. The palate itself doesn’t physically shrink, but the teeth sit further back within it, which can make the arch look narrower.
