I was top 1% academically throughout my life in the netherlands. Literally gave me 0 respect, money or life quality. Not even any real opportunities to get into better universities or get scholarships. For that you needed to be top 0.1% academically to even start getting good opportunities in this field.
I was top 1% in League of Legends (Mid Diamond). It literally meant nothing, you weren't even good enough to get into Esports teams. For that you need to be top 0.1% (Masters) to even start getting opportunities to compete at a high level, make money, get status, etc.
I can only imagine this is true in every field where there is competition. Whether it is sports, carreer, money, looks, etc.
Like imagine being top 1% in income: In the netherlands that's about 60k net income/year. That's not even enough to be betabux for an attractive young girl. You need to be top 0.1% for that.
Top 1% is just as shit, trash-tier as being average tbh. Both of it is basically useless.
Top 0.1% or death. And don't think it's easy to get from top 1% to top 0.1% because it 'seems like you are close'. That's like saying a professional soccer player at some shitty small national club (that's top 1% basically) could compete with Messi lmao. He would get stomped, fucking over
