because having longer than 3 second attention spans allows people with triple digit IQs to enjoy music that unfolds over time, creates a unique atmosphere, etc.

I'll answer less sarcastically since you didn't respond like a dick bag. I don't know, man. I just like it. It makes me feel jazzed up. I like the melodies. I like the atmosphere. The best stuff sweeps me away to another place and time. It took me a long ass time to get past the vocals. A lot of the songs take multiple listens to really appreciate. Like the song Cimmeria, that was one of the songs I just skipped on the album for a while, but now I think it's by far the best song.

Yeah, I love them (I put Pilgrim in the list ^). I also think that's their best album.
