Just saw my derm and he wants to put me on topical dut instead of fin. Haven’t tried topical or oral fin, I thought fin was the first thing to try so I’m not sure why he wanted to go straight to topical dut. Doing .1% on hairline and crown only. Has anyone here had sides from it?

Topical is a bad idea. Scalp permeation is far more difficult and it will end up going systemic anyway.
Oral is better than topical although I understand aversion to side effects risks.

Your dermatologist is likely trying to be pro-active.
Dutasteride is widely considered as a clinically more effective version of Finasteride.
