im not on roids but i have hormonal acne and the research ive been doing has been leading me to topical spiro... has anyone taken topical spiro while natty? it typically counteracts androgenic side effects from roids but my skin issues is due to an inbalance of hormones (bloodwork, skin pattern, age all points to this)... just wondering if it crashes T and gives ED like oral spiro and if anyone has any experiences on it... lmk ur thoughts

uh no lmao, here are published clinical studies specifically on male acne patients using topical spironolactone with no hormonal side effects reported. it's also been studied in men for androgenetic alopecia. the 'for women only' applies to the oral version, not topical pal

You could very well use other things as the evidence is not very strong tret mogs this

For male acne, topical spironolactone is usually:

  • More effective than doing nothing
  • Less established than topical retinoids
  • Not considered a first-line treatment

If your goal is maximal acne control, treatments with stronger evidence include:

  • Topical retinoids (especially tazarotene or trifarotene)
  • Benzoyl peroxide
  • Combination retinoid + benzoyl peroxide regimens

  • JFL

fair point but i’ve been on tret for years and it didn’t cure it. my bloodwork shows high free t and low shbg so the root cause is hormonal and retinoids don’t touch that. pairing topical spiro with retinoids makes sense for my specific situation

If ure scared of acutane try hopping on doxycycline or similar compounds
