Using 1% hydrocortisone cream on my nose area in hopes of thinning the skin, it appears to be pretty thick. I used it for eczema when younger and it worked for that purpose and I had no negative side effects

This time it’s purely cosmetic (I have no skin issues anymore) I can update if ppl want me too

Pls let me know if this is a dumb idea before I take it too far (I applied it for the first time today)

I used hydrocortisone 1% when I was a kid for some eczema.

This is a terrible idea, especially if you are prone to eczema. Thin skin is easily damaged and easily penetrated by allergens. Look up pictures of Topical Steroids Withdrawl (TSW) if you haven't heard of it yet. The effects caused by long-term use of topical steroids are irreversible and can fuck you up badly for life if you aren't careful with it.

I suffered from it when I was a baby, in literally the past 16 years I’ve had 0 eczema on my face. Wouldn’t thinning it a little bit be ok? It’s pretty bulbous

Get a rhinoplasty. Topical steroids aren't going to do anything.

Plus isn’t that shit caused by tablets etc? I’m using literally the tiniest bit of cream on one area of my face

Nope. It's caused by the creams mainly.

And topical steroids aren't going to make your nose smaller so stop considering it. Your nose size is determined by the underlying cartilage, thinning the skin isn't going to do anything.

The only thing I can see is the skin being thinner/nose being more defined, doesn’t seem like a change in bone/cartilage

Bruh u just completely ignored the ss I sent lol
It's just cartilage and bone. Look at the diagram then look at the rhinoplasty. To change the shape of the nose you have to change the shape of the cartilage. I'm not replying to you anymore ffs. Go rub some cream on your nose if it makes you feel better.

Are you sure this is bad for people with eczema even if they never had it in the face? I have had it all my life and still do but it's gotten better over the years and is mostly focused around feet/leg area. Never had it on the face thankfully. I do have an itchy scalp though but I think that's from seborrheic dermatitis or whatever though (They might both be connected though tbh).
I guess my question to you is, will putting an atopical steroid on my nose to thin the skin put me at risk for developing eczema/an itch on the nose or my face in general despite zero history of eczema on my face prior?
And when you talk about allergens, I have allergies, will thinning my nose skin make them worse??

Truth bro I hate this shit. My skin has been clear for a while though and I'm grateful.

just speaking from personal experience. if i could go back to a few years ago when a derm first prescribed me topical steroids i never would've used them. eczema got a lot worse after initially quitting topical steroids and took maybe 8 or 9 months for my skin to fully go back to normal. i had it on my face too bro it sucked and i still had to go to school and work and shit.

topical steroids could raise your risk of getting eczema on your face when you never got it on your face previously. not uncommon for people who only got eczema on their legs for example to get eczema around their eyes and nose when they get TSW.
Topical Steroid Withdrawal Syndrome (TSW), also known as Topical Steroid Addiction (TSA) or Red Skin Syndrome (RSS), is a debilitating condition that can arise from the use of topical steroids to treat a skin problem, such as eczema. This condition can also arise from topical steroid use in individuals with no prior skin condition; such as with cosmetic use.
Not everyone who uses topical steroids will develop TSW. It is unclear why some individuals experience TSW secondary to topical steroid therapy and why others do not.

if you think that using corticosteroids will ascend your nose a little bit by all means use it but TSW is just something to be weary of if you've experienced eczema previously. not everybody who uses corticosteroids for extended periods of time will get TSW, some people can use corticosteroids for 5 years+ and be fine.
