A 'beautiful' teenager who feared being isolated with coronavirus has died after attempting to take her life, her family have confirmed.
'Funny and charming' Emily Owen, who had high-functioning autism and 'a daily battle to fit in and conform to social norms', passed away after a suicide attempt.
The 19-year-old's family said the young waitress had been unable to cope 'with her world closing in, plans being cancelled and being stuck inside'.
Her devastated family have demanded more awareness and support for people struggling with mental health issues during the pandemic.
Emily, from Kings Lynn, Norfolk, had warned loved ones days before the tragedy: 'More people will die from suicide during this than the virus itself'.
Her family said the teenager was concerned about coronavirus and the 'mental health impacts of isolation'.
