Treating Acne

Normally you could just stick to your normal routine of actives, and ride it out. But if you really want to target a pimple, here are some options:


Pimple patches:

• Look for a plain pimple patch. You don't need a ton of actives in your patches (salicylic acid, retinol, or tea tree) and have potential to cause irritation under the occlusion of the patch. Plain hydrocolloid works well enough on its own to reduce inflammation and draw out pus.
• I recommend getting patches made for the face, rather than getting ones meant for body / wounds (which usually have strong adhesive which can irritate, and are often very painful to remove)

How to use:

• after cleansing, apply on dry skin, with nothing underneath. If you apply it over hydrating products / moisturizer, then it'll just be absorbed by the patch rather than your pimple. And if you apply it over an active like exfoliating acids, retinol / retinal / retinoids, benzoyl peroxide... you can give yourself a chemical burn or at least a decent amount of irritation.
• You can use pimple patches day or night, just leave them on til you do your next routine.
