Tret/Ret purge

how bad is the purge on tret compared to retinol? also is there any way i can prevent purging like crazy?

status: i have relatively clear skin, but a small amount of scarring and some annoying comedones but no real acne.

but scared to try it out again as i had a terrible reaction with retinol and had a insanely bad ‘purge’

also are you supposed to put it under jaw (around upper neck area)
