I’ve been keeping a 1cm margin away from my eyelids towards the upper cheek, that being said I think it migrated and is causing a fuckton of irritation burning and puffiness I woke up with resurfaced eczema that I haven’t had in 4 ish years

If I stop using it will this go away?

My original goal was to use it for discolouration, hyperpigmentation and sun damage but even after diluting it heavily I still experience burning, there’s more areas of skin like this around my nose too.

i got that really bad at the top of my eye skin mostly, it took a few days to resolve and it was a mix of using too much before my skin was used to it + not applying eye cream beforehand (doesnt matter a lot, but it helps when you are just starting to use tret)
try to stay far away from the eye area even if it seems overkill, because the product will migrate over your skin anyways.

Was watching a dermatologist she said apply vaseline or something to lubricate around the eyes to stop it from migrating but for now I’ll probably stop for this to resolve im just sitting at home rn with my face slathered in moisturiser so I don’t scratch my face and make it worse.

Legit sensitive skin is the most subhuman trait even though I don’t have horrid eczema like I did in my early teens my skin gets triggered by products very fucking easily

Yeah
Skincare is nightmare difficulty, you could find a good product that actually work but you have to stop using it because your skin can't take it
makes everything harder

That means your skin barrier is damaged you should take a break from tret and all actives for at least a week until the burning and irritation is gone. Ease back into it slowly by applying less frequently because retinoid dermatitis is no joke.

I've got the exact same issue I think, going to my GP on thursday for something else will ask what about it also, but idk if he knows about something that specific. Is it just one eye for you? That's what's confusing about my situation since my other eye is completely fine

And dont bother at all 2 inches around the eye area

I’m thinking of just sticking to my forehead and the very sides of my face for now until I know I can tolerate it better.

It depends on which type of eczema you have. There are some products that can permanently get rid of eczema and there are some that can lessen the symptoms.

be like me and don't use skincare products everyday. Just barely use a cleanser and moisturizer with some retinol

How many times do you use it a week?

I use the retino a micro low dosage and it works fine. There is no particular treatment for eczema other than the temporary steroids. Better to stop it and see if it goes away.

Did your eczema leave you with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation? Did it fade away?

This is correct. Most forms of eczema simply disqualify you from using tret at relevant percentages. Use a bland moisturizer with little added ingredients and a high quality sunscreen - everything else besides these two and tret is cope with marginal effects at best and extremely damaging to your skin at worst.

Using retinol and vitamin C serum triggered eczema on my cheeks that I now need to manage indefinitely even after discontinuing both products. I can't even moisturize my cheeks daily without causing flare-ups.
