Tretinoin gel for acne problem

I've been taking tretinoin gel from skinorac prescribed by my PCP and applying sunscreen regularly three times per day for the past three months. I recently discovered that two freckles on my face that had previously disappeared had resurfaced. I don't spend much time outside,but when I do, I always wear sunglasses, caps, and apparel that protects me from the sun. Just curious if this is advantageous or detrimental.
