I use nothing topical. Dutasteride keeps my skin fully clear.

If you want to use topical use Taz at least. It has the results long term results as Trey but Taz is more aggressive and will give much faster results without the out the irritation from Tret since taz is way more selective and doesn't touch RAR alpha.

And use SPF when using taz/tret/isotret otherwise you are cooked.

Tazarotene does act on RAR beta.

It is a retinoid that binds selectively to RAR beta and RAR gamma receptors, but not to RAR alpha.

The RAR alpha is the one commonly associated with irritation, so what you said is true but with nuance.

I have used both Adapelene and Tretinoin for long periods. Adapelene also avoids the RAR alpha and I could use daily, but I can’t use Tret daily even after months of use.

Will try Tazarotene in about 1 month, so will report back at some point.

Edit: I don’t even know what gay glow you guys talk about, I have been using retinoids for 2 years and I just have healthy skin, no gay glow at all. That probably comes from the use of shiny SPFs. Switch to a better sunscreen and this will be gone. Korean SPF in the winter, water resistant SPF in the summer. No gay glow guaranteed. Can make a thread about this.

It is probably combination of smooth texture caused by the tret which is reflecting light, no dead skin, and hydration caused by the other products you use since Tret is irritating.

Not sure why you’re bothering with Tret. Use Taz is you use anything. From what i’ve seen it mogs without question.
