I just recently started using Tret 0.025%. Ive put it on only twice (last was 2 days ago, I've been doing ever other day) and used the sandwich method but my skin still burns even after frequent moisturizing.

Heres the link to my moisturizer

I also have this one that I've heard other user mention but i haven't used it because it contains Niacinamide which may make the burning worse. idk tho lmk which ones better. link

I went to boxing today and moisturized before hand, and my sweat was genuinely burning my skin. The tret is the lowest percent and i feel like I am doing everything right to not nuke my skin barrier yet it still burns more than it should.
Anyone know what I am doing wrong or something i should add to my protocol?

How much are you adding and what was your skin care stuff looking like before?

pea sized amount, just moisturizer. ive done tret before but, again, nuked my skin so i stopped but i was not doing it correctly. So i tried again with the correct steps and it seems to have happened again.

Is your skin dry when you do it? And it did burn just a little the first couple times for me, but it won’t away when my skin got a little more used to it. Is the burning bad bad or just a little uncomfortable?

It was like 5 minutes after so probs not fully. Ill change that, but 2 days later still burning is od icl. how often did you do it when you first started, mabye eod is too harsh.

I started pretty aggressively ngl, but I’ve had a 5 step morning and 5 step night routine that I have been doing for a year. I started every other day then on day 7 I moved to 6 days a week. The burning only happened when I put on moisturizer 5 minutes after the tretinoin and that happened for the first 3 weeks I’d say.

Do you recommend waiting longer to put on the moisturizer or shorter than 5 mins.

I just doing it when my skin looks dry. My full routine is 1. Wash my face with a gentle cleanser 2. Let my face completely dry (should be 15-20 minutes, I only do 3-5 tho to brush my teeth and stuff) 3. Tretinoin 4. Let my skin dry (again 15-20 minutes most ideal, I do 5 or less typically how long it takes me to put my stuff away) 5. Moisturizer (I use a light amount). 15-20 minutes is most ideal, but eyeing it by when it is dry is also good. I naturally have dry skin.

Ok thanks ill try it out

It got really red when i was sweating, salt must have been irritating it i presume.
Most likely sweat irritation, maybe tretinoin irritation since you’ve only been using it for a few days. Try to do it after boxing and maybe use it less (ex: every 3 days) and when you get better use it more
