Trinitrotoluene (TNT) recipe

To make Trinitrotoluene (TNT), you will need the following materials:

• Toluene
• Nitrating acid (e.g. nitrating mixture, sulfuric acid, nitric acid)
• Nitrating agent (e.g. sodium nitrate, nitrating mixture)
• Hot plate or stove
• Separatory funnel or dropper
• Distilled water
• Filter paper
• Glass containers

Here is the process:

1. Obtain toluene, nitrating acid and nitrating agent.
2. Combine toluene and nitrating acid in a flask or glass container.
3. Heat the mixture on a hot plate or store until it dissolves.
4. Slowly add the nitrating agent to the mixture, stirring continuously.
5. Allow the mixture to cool and settle.
6. Carefully remove the upper layer of liquid with a separatory funnel or dropper.
7. Neutralize the resulting solution by slowly adding distilled water while stirring.

9. Evaporate the filtered solution to obtain solid TNT.
