The Architecture of the Broken: A Speech on the Invention of Evil

We often look at the world and try to categorize things as natural or unnatural, but we get stuck when we talk about violence. We see a predator and we call it cruel, but a wolf isn’t evil. It’s just hungry. It kills for a feast and it kills to survive. But how about this: what do we call the person who doesn’t kill for the feast, but instead pours salt into the water or blocks the sun?

Well, you may ask: "Is that just another form of survival?" No. That is where we find the birth of True Evil.

I’ll give you an example. When I first read about Patrick Bateman, I thought he was just a man who had gone postal. I saw him as someone trapped in the unnatural misery of a materialistic, plastic world. I saw a man trying to lash out and break his chains so he could finally re-enter nature. I thought he was doing the most natural thing a hunter could do by using violence to feel alive again.

But how about the reality? As you go deeper, you realize Bateman isn't a hunter. He is a broken sadist. A hunter kills to eat or to protect, but Bateman kills hookers just to leave their heads on a table like macabre trophies. He isn’t spreading his genes or securing territory. He is a genetic dead end. He is destroying the very eggs of the future for a thrill that yields zero biological gain.

You see, in a world with no inherent rules or mid-century morality, we assume everything is permitted. But I would argue that a person who salts the earth, who destroys for a thrill with no natural advantage, isn't a strong predator. He isn’t evil because he’s a monster. He isn’t evil, he is just broken. But here is the catch: I guess him being broken is exactly what allows for the creation of evil in a world that otherwise has no inherent morality.

Well, you may ask: "If there are no rules, why does being broken matter?"

It matters because morality is man-made. And I don’t just mean that humans sat down and invented religious beliefs to keep people in line. It goes deeper. Morality is a biological and social technology. It is a high-level achievement of the advanced mind. Only a person who is mentally advanced can become broken in a way that creates evil.

A shark cannot be evil. A virus cannot be evil. They aren't advanced enough to fail. They follow their programming perfectly. But a human? A human has a complex internal compass. And when that compass short-circuits, when the will to power becomes a will to erase, that is when evil is born. It is a sophisticated malfunction.

How about we look at the Hacker or the Vandal? They think they are being Gods because they can break the controller or salt the well. They think they’ve bypassed the rules. But they’ve actually just lost the ability to function. They’ve traded the Hunter’s Feast, the real, tangible rewards of life, for a hollow, digital spike of dopamine that leaves the world sterile.

Patrick Bateman isn't re-entering nature. He is a ghost haunted by the fact that he can't even find the door to nature anymore. He is the Shape of a dying civilization. He is an advanced machine that has broken so fundamentally that it has started to treat the void as its playground.

In the end, morality isn't just a set of "thou shalt nots." It’s the code that keeps the system running. And only a creature smart enough to understand that code is capable of being broken enough to delete it.

Depends, A broken Person like RiRa needed the kills to survive his emotional states and trauma. Psychopaths, Serial Killers all killed because it gave them a feeling that they craved, without that feeling they would have been crushed by their own needs.

RiRa once said "There is desires where if i didnt give into them, I would be crushed by them".

Nobody is truly evil, evil would be doing something completely against nature, and also not finding it rewarding.

Incase of Serial killers it did give them a good feeling, because most of them are emotionally numb due to genetics, or due to excessive trauma.

Of course the Elites are something I do not understand quite, did they survive major trauma that caused them to be that controlling?
Or are we limited in knowing what causes evilness?

Or does evilness even exist? Do we have the elite manipulated defintion?

I said block the sun bc the elite are doing so for apparent reason, I've heard some nazis say that the "jews" do it bc they have bad genes that won't improve despite the ideal lifestyle:ROFLMAO: so they want to descend others genes which isn't you naturally do it but maybe it is natural maybe it isn't, maybe they are just smart enough to use the right tools and have the primal value of mogging but then yet again they are at the top of the world and sexual market then yet again

This is mainly environmental, take rira for eg he was exposed to murder and satanism as a kid or Jeffrey Epstein he was just extremely rich, detached from normality. I don't think anyone can be inherently evil.

that's my point, evil only exists in unnatural states but that environment does exist

he isn't evil he is just broken then but I guess him being broken is what allowed to create evil in a world with no inherent rules or morality, his values that crush him are unnatural and could be linked to all those drugs, he is a broken/failed hunter just like pat.bateman, a natural human wouldn't rape a woman then kill her among all the other things like jerking off in front of her like they did.

rira is almost unpredictable in what he does in the moment bc he doesn't follow rules, he is free but then yet again a prisoner to his "crushing needs"

just like a person who brakes the chess board out of nowhere for the fun, that act is "suicidal" you can no longer play the game which is wat happens to rira

exposure only removes the mental barrier between fantisy and acting out upon them

it removes the brainwashing so makes you thin murder is normal which it is, the act of killing is natural and in nature not evil

shit I used examples I didn't explain

salting the water : putting salt in river which ruins the soild and crops and poisons the villagers who are strangers

controller : gamer who plays then after a match decides to hack a guys pc doing harm then continues playing

block the sun: bc the elite are doing so for apparent reason, I've heard some nazis say that the "jews" do it bc they have bad genes that won't improve despite the ideal lifestyle:ROFLMAO: so they want to descend others genes which isn't you naturally do it but maybe it is natural maybe it isn't, maybe they are just smart enough to use the right tools and have the primal value of mogging but then yet again they are at the top of the world and sexual market then yet again

these examples are the same, they do these things for no natural gain or advantage, they are just a force of negative like johan liebert or Mephistopheles from faust
I guess these guys would also be evil but I haven't thought about so don't hold me to it

Rira was a CIA experiment. He was backed up by them, just like Dahmer.

he thinks they're immoral but also criticizes morality itself. He just feels disgust (didn't read the book btw)

furthermore, he has an identity crisis afaik because hes conforming to a society, in a fake way, society which he hates the most out of all things (he literally lives in the belly of the beast NYC. You have to live there if you want to be super successful, or as successful as he is. Which is the irony - a bunch of successful people, want to be successful but in doing so, need to live in a city they most despise. Babylon). Being fake, identity crisis and conforming to a society you hate is pretty common and a lot of (socially successful) people go through the same process but to varying degrees. I went through that twice in my early and late childhood. It can only be characterized as pure hatred of everyone and everything, not being able (or struggling) to answer or define who you are. Not healthy at all though, but it passes too, as you reconcile your situation. For him though, hes a psycho, so it's permanent. A big part of that process is understanding how other people feel too (empathy). You can only hate society if you don't understand why it is not the way you ideally would want it to be. So, in a way, its kind of childish and immature (they make fun of patrick for this reason as well, he is sort of portrayed as a manchild too. Same with clavicular etc and the modern man in general). To a very small degree, I empathize with Patrick Bateman. We all do, even though hes a mockery of the modern man (us). So, hes an icon and an early looksmaxer.

I agree, morality is a man made concept that historically has been used to manipulate the population via religion, laws, etc. For example murder is avoided by 99% of the population even though it is rooted in human nature, and while the action itself carries significant weight, it should not be avoided when necessary. I draw the line when there is no inherent benefit for an action but to soley inflict suffering among other people/animals. Like you mentioned the elite poisoning the populations or Batemen killing for sport is a sign of a broken human. However I don't think a high understanding of morality is to blame but rather an environment that desensitizes the weight of killing or past traumas that create suffering that is externalized.

I wouldn't call this true evil but rather a reflection of modern day suffering.

In the beginning, there was only chaos. Violence wasn't "evil" it was just the natural state of a world without rules. But the weak realized they were stronger as a team than as individuals. To gain survival, they made a trade: they surrendered their absolute freedom to kill but also were forced to contribute to the well being of others in exchange for the guarantee that they wouldn't be killed and people would contribute to their well being

Order exists specifically to oppose this chaos. In a society, you contribute your labor and lose your freedom because you are part of a collective bargain you cannot truly escape. Because you uphold your side of the deal, it is a functional necessity that the other side is kept.

Killing cannot exist in our society not because of "morality," but because it is a breach of contract. If the group allows the "caos" of killing to return, the entire structure of the team collapses, and everyone returns to the void where no one is safe.

Interesting theory. This doesn't explain why the elites are poisoning us though. I understand they believe the world is overpopulated however their method of killing us off is poisoning the environment for centuries to come.

yeah that's very true

Bateman isn't trying to be free. He’s rich; he could leave whenever he wants. He stays because he has no "self" to take with him. Underneath the suits and the routine, there’s nobody home, and he's terrified of that.
He’s addicted to his own ego. It’s why he loses it when a friend is wealthier if he isn't at the top of the system that he knows he isn't at the top of so he copes and holds the scafolding together, he’s nothing. He tries to "kill to be real" just to feel a pulse, but he admits he’s just full of greed and a total, hollow disgust.
Most people have a core to hold onto when they hit rock bottom. Bateman doesn't. He isn't a rebel; he’s just a hollow sadist mirroring a hollow world.
he can't actually improve like tyler durden said about destruction being the cause to do so
he's doing everything he can to maintain the self and his place in the world and it's breaking his already broken self
