I really don't know what the 'reputation' or stereotype of Bengalis are in the UK - the average person probably just sees us as a mix between Indians and pakis. Not as smart as Indians but don't engage in criminality that much (except maybe the ones in Tower Hamlet's). Some Bengalis (including my own parents) are very cold to other nationalities despite acknowledging similarities. Most Bengalis (especially the FOB) keep themselves to themselves. The British born gen tend to be different.

Most whites don't even know about Bengalis, they'll call any brown skinned person "paki" and to a lesser extent "indian", i don't think i ever saw a white person say "bengali". Yeah. That's odd given in UK there is a relatively high population of Bengalis. Depends on who you're talking to and how ignorant they are. That being said we don't have any 'good' stereotypes either with celebs like Amir Khan or Zayn. Or Indians do with Rishi Sunak who is PM.
