What "free world"? How many people in Germany or the UK have had their doors kicked in and jailed for posting mere opinions online? Last year some 4,000 were locked up in UK for posting negatively about muzzie immigrants and whatnot. Shit, during the entire conflict with Ukraine there's not even been 500 Russians locked up for speaking out against it or Putin.

Europe departed from the values we shared long ago.
Dont act like America spreads freedom anyway. Free world as in trade. Do you know who led the reforms of free trade. Hint : It is in my avi

Yet Trump provides foreign aid to President Sisi of Egypt, a military dictator who locks up his political opponents.
Europe departed from the values we shared long ago.
Strategic interests matter more than so called "values".
I will concede that Europeans have themselves to blame for over-reliance on American security guarantees.

Who cares about free trade? Sounds like some globalist shit to me. How can you reform trade? With regulations?

Anyways, your avis' cousin was a much better president.

They digged themselves in, now they have to find a way to get out. But EU will never be united until Trump directly threatens a key Western European country

Yet that's what Trump is trying to do. Reduce global tariffs - or so he claims.

My avi is the reason the peasant in the Great Depression got Social Security. He passed reforms that got the country out of the nightmare. He led the Great War. Theodore Roosevelt was good but never as consequential as Franklin. There is a reason why he served 4 terms and the public understood. If he was mediocore his image would have been shattered for even announcing a potential third term

That's his business. We're not protecting him though are we? What can he do for us? I'll tell you. He can take all the "Palestinians", along with the King of Jordan, when we deport their parasitic asses from Gaza.

I say giving him foreign aid is good business. Long term strategy. Egypt can do something for us but Europe can't.

True but these last few weeks have been a testament to American power. They've made repeated mistakes that would destroy the credit rating of any medium sized European country.
But EU will never be united until Trump directly threatens a key Western European country
Trump could have achieved many of his goals through quiet backroom deals by leveraging the American security monopoly over Europe.

The way he went after the Europeans wasn't even in the American interest.

He did good in the war but fuck social security. Biggest fucking scam there ever was. I don't want a free meal from my government. I want my government to facilitate opportunities to get rich on my own.

Isn't it American's business? Trump is the president, right? The point is that the "values" talk is total bullshit.
Sisi is being propped up with American aid so, in essence, the Egyptian government is guaranteed by the White House.

What does Egypt do inherently better for America than a 20 trillion economic market with Europe?

I dont think Trump is that retarded, but he clearly doesnt have the brains to understand the dangers of bad publicity. Figures since he was a casino owner before becoming a politician. His Zelensky thing where he allowed a fucking VP to insult a leader of another country was already proof that both are in it for the "owns". They want to establish domination without subtlety and it just comes off as crude and antagonising. Not the way to go if you want other countries to engage in reciprocal dippomacy

Trump is smart but totally ignorant on foreign affairs - like many Americans.
They're so powerful that they can afford to be parochial.
I remember in his first term when he tried to cut a trade deal with France, not knowing that they are part of the European customs union.

Lmao, just because you dont like it doesnt mean others dont. Privileged take. He spanked Republicans in the elections because they could not come up with faults of his in legislation. They attacked his dog to seem critical of him. He beat them so convincingly because he wiped out corruption and was guiding America out of a dark place. Saying that legislation is bullshit when there was bipartisan support is delusional. He was popular in Southern states because he actually cared about the people there too and spanked the Republicans in their home turf unlike the modern parties where both sides hate each other's constituencies. Downplaying the most influential President of modern America is goddamn funny. That is like saying Reagan was unpopular when he brutally beat the Democrats in his run in 1980s

It's not about promoting our values across the world. The rest of the world can and should do whatever the hell it wants. It's about doing business with those who benefit us. The point is we shouldn't be protecting people based on alliances we forged with them almost 100 years ago, especially when they've gone astray from what we value.

Europe will continue to be America's bitch. Trust me, Denmark isn't gonna get in the way of that. Well take Greenland by any means necessary and Europe will still grovel before us. They have no choice.

I agree, so shouldn't Vance and Trump stop talking about shared "values"? It's a false argument.
I said from the beginning that strategic interests are more important.

I think the voters liked it. The people who analysed his Presidency after liked it too. He made the rich mad because he didnt allow them to dictate American policy like they did with Hoover. At the end the results are there to see. The way the war ended, the way the economy boomed post war there is no doubt whether his Presidency good outcomes or not

Social Security gave relief at that time because it was needed. You think a in a 10% unemployment rate we should let men to fend for themselves ? They would have rioted. No one really criticises him for that except for those living in bubbles of their own

In modern-day dollars, that's about the same amount as we gave Mexico when we purchased land after the Mexican-American War (Even though we were under no obligation to give Mexico a penny; the victor of a war sets the terms. We could have annexed the northern half of Mexico, or even all of Mexico, for free if we wanted to)

They could have, but they didnt. But I dont know the history behind it. I think Greenland is a bit different because this is in Europe so a lot of countries might not like it

You didn't really purchase the land. You took it by force.
The pretext the Mexican-American war was a flimsy way to realize American manifest destiny.
Northern Mexico was full of Mexicans - the annexed territories were sparsely populated and ideal for settlers from the East.

Of course, Trump wouldn't admit to doing a 180.
Bessent pulled out of a meeting with one of the largest Republican congressional cacuses and met with Trump.
Suddenly an announcement is made on the same day that tariffs are paused.
Makes you think.

Yeah, they did it after 180. But some tariffs are still active I think. Because 10% is still on all nations. I think they are waiting for his next move
