U.S Air force revealed an advanced F47 that is currently in development and will be operational in 5 years. Technically China is also currently developing 6th generation fighters but military experts don't consider it to be a true 6th generation fighter while the NGAD (Next-Generation Air Dominance) program that gave birth to F47 and the UK-Italy-Japan GCAP (Global Combat Air Programme) are the most confirmed 6th-gen programs.

The U.S airforce still plans to retain the F-35 in its fleet and has already offered to sell them to countries like India, Israel etc. Interesting to see how India, China, US, North Korea, Israel, Germany and Russia are investing so much money to heavily modernize the militaries in their countries. This is the first time we have seen such a push since cold war. Almost like they are foreshadowing for another major war....?

It is like a mix of long-term planning, bureaucracy, and shifting priorities. The F-35 development was hilariously wasteful of the money out into it, was one of the biggest money pits in military history. The U.S. spent over $1.7 trillion on the program only to end up with a jet that cost over $80 million per unit but still wasn't fully reliable.
And had insane maintenance costs. @666PSL

I'm pretty sure the F-35 will be a standard 30 years from now; it won't be such a brutal drain on taxpayers' pockets. The question is what they're going to do with already established projects like the F-22 and the new F-15 EX.

The F-22 is on its way out, which is kinda ridiculous considering it's still the best air superiority fighter ever built but again it has very high costs. The F-15EX is the basically the work horse plane for when stealth isn't necessary. It carries WAY more weapons than the F-35,cheaper to maintain and can fly more frequently.

JFL :feelskek::feelskek::feelskek:. They could really get a lot more out of the F-22, either by selling it to Japan or by using its technology in their new fighter program. It's a shame so much technology is being wasted. Regarding the F-15 EX, also a JFL, in the not-too-distant future, non-stealth fighters will only work in COIN or low-intensity conflicts, and by then, drone technology should be enough. I only see its use in very specific cases.

True but it's still a material pawn on the board.
American strategy is about heaping as much pressure on China as possible.
They'll try and mobilize all of their regional allies against them, just like the US did with Russia.

Oh cool let’s spend ungodly amounts of money on new fighters and R&D so some Chinese people running windows 98s in the basement of a state run sweatshop can go steal all the secrets for just the cost of the electricity running their PCs.

USAF has apparently "learnt" from ita previous mistakes during the development of F-35 but according to military analysts the plane would easily cost "hundreds" of million dollars ro make and the entire lifetime cost would in the best case scenario just under a trillion dollars but would realistically be closer to like 3-4 Trillion dollars because of the Pentagon's logistical challenges. This amount is enough to end nationwide homelessness and pay off the national debt of many states

they haven't even fielded the f 22s, jsf, or all those drones yet lol. how many programs are they going to go through before they start mass production and replacement of the old fleet. seems it's always either too expensive or the outcome is unsatisfactory. dod is retarded. not enough high iq white people. they need a massive injection of high iq nazis like after ww2

F22 was already far ahead of the game and they should have kept up production. Stopping production made us rely on this expensive NGAD shit. They need to release the F/A XX tho. FA 18 needs to be replaced with a good long range stealth multirole fighter that isn’t an F35.

True, I don’t think they’ll be as easy a mark as the Europeans were but it won’t stop the US from trying.
