Truth is truth, it doesn't have feelings.

Human beings have feelings and they might fight truth with whatever means possible so that they push in favour of their interests, so truth must be protected at all costs if you want it to continue being the main element in your society/country/whatever.

People will do whatever it takes to feel better, and truth is not something they will not sacrifice if they deem it necessary for their personal benefits at a particular moment.

People lie for everything everytime, very few people keep their word 100%. That's how much the majority of people care about it.

Getting someone who will only defend truth into power has been extremely difficult during history.
