When Blink 182 got back together right as I was graduating high school (and spent that summer touring), Tom was a 33 year old man trying to be cool for a crowd full of teens.

16 years later, I know how Tom must have felt. I'm 33 and will be attending a high school graduation party for my youngest cousins today.

comical how you viewed a 33 year old man who was already a worldwide acclaimed musician as an old man who's too old to be cool for teens despite him looking young for his age
Meanwhile most 33 year olds could have been trying to be a musician for 15 years without achieving jack shit, most 33 year olds have achieved nothing and havent even gotten their lives off the ground

Im not singling you out as I was guilty of this mindset too

Regardless of how famous he was (and how young he looked for his age), there's something cringeworthy about a 33 year old man (now a 49 year old man) playing songs about teenage angst.

Don't get me wrong; I totally get why he plays/played the songs (he makes millions of dollars from the music). In fact, I like the music.

All I'm saying is he probably felt old (and felt a sense of embarassment) playing those songs for crowds full of teens after the band got back together back when he was 33.

The funny thing is he doesn't really play to crowds full of teens anymore. Those teens from 2009 (who are now 30+ years old) are in the audience still (and not very many current teens are into Blink 182)

All in all, I'm glad I went to the party. Even if one of the attendees wasn't even born yet when I graduated high school 😲

I did well being cool for the teens today.

Also as a teenager myself don’t worry about it , it’s really not as bad as it seems

I'm an escortcel.

The last free sex I had was 4 years ago. And yeah, she was a mom.

I've been with some moms since then...but paid for the sex.

The teens at the party ended up liking me.

I was just the right age: Old enough they found my life experience interesting, yet young enough to still seem cool compared to their parents.
