Got an appointment for a turbinoplasty today to improve my nose breathing. Currently I have to use nasal sprays 4 - 5 times a day to properly breathe through my nose and avoid breathing through my mouth again like I uses to do during my childhood. If I were to get off nasal sprays probably my jaws would relapse even further back and eliminate the chin wing result JFL.

So yeah anyways if any of you guys have trouble breathing through the nose consider a turbinoplasty it's almost risk free, can be done in local anaesthesia and is covered by insurance.

Have you heard of Empty Nose syndrome?

Yes it's not really an issue anymore these days with modern techniques.

Turbinates regrow anyways after 2 - 3 years so in the worst case you have empty nose for like 6 months or so

Turbinates regrow? You sure? The people with ENS say they have it for the rest of their life. I have found out about modern techniques though where they don't leave the nose too open like they used to.

I wonder if I need this, I can’t breath through one half of my nose most of the time…

Now that you said it I did some more research and the issue seems MUCH more serious than I have previously thought.. guess I'll talk to the ENT about this again and may cancel it... half my lower lip is already crippled by jaw surgery, I can't afford to get empty nose syndrome on top of that shit.

I can't breath though one my nostril and the surgeon said that he would cut it a bit during my bimax, also because the anesthesia tube is going to go in the nose

Yeah I also research about it since my nose is a bit shit too
But procedure sounds a bit scary

Is surgery for that safe or could you also get empty nose Syndrom (sounds like hell if you get it)

A blackpilled surgeon I spoke to recommended this for me straight after Bimax (called it concha bullosa) while another said that this is usually considered on the table after the maxilla has been moved, as it affects the structure of the nose somehow

however unsure of how useful this would be for me and if my first surgeon was just trying to sell it to make more $$$ as I’ve heard the turbinates play a functional role also

me too brother, but you probably need a septo too if one of your nostrils is mostly blocked like mine
do you think that the fact i didnt do septo for 10 years after my bimax and breathed through the nose at night narrowed my jaw or what possible effects on the jaw could i had from that?

bimax isnt gonna do shit; you need septo

Why would your jaw relapse back? Due to mouth breathing, right?

Did you ever do it? I cancelled my septoplasty + turbinate reduction because I'm worried of empty nose syndrome. I'll probably get my septum straightened eventually but the jew doctor was trying to convince me to shrink my turbinates, probably makes him more money.

Based on what I've read, your turbinates are REQUIRED for you to feel the sensation of air going through your nose, humidification, filtration, etc. The problem with turbinate reduction is that the nerves in the turbinates are very small and intricate so it's difficult for the surgeon to avoid damaging them during surgery. And if they are damaged, then you're fucked with empty nose syndrome.

What you really need to do is identify what is causing your turbinates to become inflamed and enlarged, and fix the root problem. I plan on seeing an allergist for this, but I bet it's my cat since I didn't have these problems until I got a cat + I was allergic to them as a kid but not as bad now.

just got the same feedback. deviated septum causes one of the turbinates in the obstructed nostril side to be smaller than the other. Deviated septum basically lays ruin to the symmetrical functioning and aesthetic of a natural nose.
