I wish muslim leaders of old didn't use the word "jihad" whenever they went to war because that word means so much more than just physical fighting. Now that word is tainted and every retarded white person thinks it just means war and physical violence.

Plus ww1 had no holy significance for the Muslim world at all and the ottoman Empires goals in that war were as much materialistic in its aims, as it was for its own survival, whereas jihad is meant to solely have a religious significance for the person who undertakes it.

Lmao but they weren't invading Muslim lands just because they were Muslim. They were just going about with their colonizing like they did in India and everywhere else in the world. For instance Hyderabad from which my family heritage is from was a "princely state" that came under British "indirect" rule in the 1700s, and yet for its entire existence it was essentially a Muslim culture state and the Brits never pushed Christianity or anything like that.

I have no problem with self defense, but don't call it jihad when it's not inherently religious. They should've just used the turkish word for war whatever it maybe, but I can't even single them out like this because they aren't even the first Muslim leaders to ever misconstrue and misuse the word for their own benefit.

Muhammad and maybe the handful of the first caliphs that came after him used the word correctly because Muslims were being persecuted for simply being Muslims during that time. But for most of Islamic history, Islamic leaders, kings, sultans, and even caliphs misused that word in order to gain support from the religious uneducated masses to support their wars for expansion, power and wealth which inherently had nothing religious to it.

nah they were spreading nationalism within muslims and that was more than enough. you can go to jihad for the expansion of islam alone.

With your logic Rashiduns shouldnt have conquered anywhere.

late stage ottoman empire wasnt fully islamic but things would have been far more better in middle east if ottoman empire was still holding.

Nothing wrong with fighting for the expansion of Islamic empires. Of course we are going to fight for power and wealth so we can establish the Islamic order in this world.
