Twin blocks appliance

My orthodontist wants to install me twin blocks to correct my class 2 malocclusion. He says that I literally have my jaw too far back towards my ear, but that with twin blocks it would advance my lower jaw by reshaping the cartilage of the joint .

Someone would have an opinion on this, I see a lot of people who just have a movement of the teeth in the alveolar bone but no advancement of the jaw...

But I will need more detail, so if I understand correctly, he have reason that it is possible in my case to advance the jaw by reshaping the cartilage? and not just an alveolar advancement?
Now where would the aesthetic damage be, if this is the case the angle of the jaw would be more prominent because advanced and therefore more aesthetic, right?
