Title. Tbh it makes sense if you 6'4 250 lbs and can throw a punch why would you do MMA. You are already a genetic freak before you even throw a punch so why not just do boxing even mid tier fighters make more money. Francis is making a bank fighting influencers and boxers after he left UFC. Hell if a kid is that big, athletic and with speed and coordination why not join thr NFL or NBA. Even bench warmers make more money than UFC heavyweights.

Heavyweight division is dead and boring as shit at the moment. Boxing isn’t what it used to be and has became a meme with this social media influencer slop, but at least boxers get a good purse after a fight. MMA fighters get thrown Pennie’s lmao.

Boxing requires a more fine tuned skillset and mma requires a more broad but less refined skillset. So if you got a better build you'll know on average you'll be a good fighter, where the bounds for success aren't that tight
Ngannou used his influence built by his time in UFC to shoot straight to Tyson Fury first fight, major payday
Other people used UFC platform for their businesses
Also I'd say boxing is far more competitive because of deeper talent pool because it's a much older sport.

Disagree there are plenty of big guys who are elite grapplers in the UFC. Fabricio Werdum, Daniel Cormier etc
:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: You listed two guys who even in relation to their lower weight counterparts are shitty as fuck

I want you to go look at ufc hw rankings right now and tell me who can grapple lmfao

DC didn’t even use any bjj he was just purely wrestlefucking guys and dropping the big tubbies on their heads yet the lighter Jon jones with 10000x less wrestling accolades handled him

Better yet, walk into a gym and see how many hw size dudes are good. Hint, you’ll be lucky to find even one

Francis, by comparison to the NFL, NBA, or rugby, is quite an average athlete. You aren’t wrong that the heavyweight division is dead.

What’s also funny is that the majority of all heavyweight combat athletes are just athletes who barely made it and then were subsequently were released from the organizations I stated, or failed to do so.

Also yeah the UFC needs to build a better development route for heavier athletes tbh
