Yes looks heavily influence how others see you. But the effect is overrated. A big part of why ugly people are often seen as having worse character, is because oftentimes they do.
Natural selection means traits not rewarded by society (be it looks or character deficits) will start to concentrate into the same people/demographics over time. That means that after many generations of competitive industrial capitalism, you'll have a disproportionate correlation between bad looks and bad character, because both of those are things that make you unsuccessful/noncompetitive
The reason people instinctively think better looking people are have person character and visa versa, is NOT only because of lookism. It's because to a considerable degree, the idea is rooted in real world fact.
It really is everything or nothing in this world.
