Long story short;
I found a Korean startup that can make high astigmatism (toric) contact lenses. I ordered them for $60.
I’m living in Turkey, under fucking Tayyip Erdoğan’s dictatorship. We can’t bring anything into our country — they want $300 tax for a $60 one-year pair of contact lenses.
So, I saw the picture of the lenses. Normally, most of the lenses I use come as 12 pairs (24 pieces) in small plastic holders. But this one only has 1 pair (2 pieces) in a big glass bottle.
!!
I heard something about these lenses that they can be used for 12 months straight. Is that a common thing?
I don’t want to pay $300 for a 2-month lens stock because of fucking Turkey’s tax system, and I’m not even 20–21 yet, so I can’t get LASIK.
Fun fact: in my country, even the most expensive LASIK doctor and hospital charge around $1,000 on average — but I have to pay nearly $400 for 12-month lenses because of this system.
