I'm ethnic I spent 2.5 after graduating with an MA to finally get a job. Applied to 100s of graduate/entry based jobs


The job I finally got - I can tell I got it because of my ethnicity because they have such a diversity push and I was the only ethnic out of 10 people - which for London is quite shit. And guess what I do the job 10x better than they do, introduced various techniques which have become standard process and grew the entire department from a team of 10 to 20. Not saying I was solely responsible for it but definitely contributed. Before I joined the reports my team would write would be 30 pages long now it's like 120 pages JFL.

I'm thankful to my employers because they recognize my worth and have given me a 10k pay rise in 2.5 years.

I got 10% a couple of months ago. Inflation hit 10% this year, so I guess it's not bad. Inflation-pegging wage increases are rare during hyperinflation - some people are getting like 1-2%. Healthcare workers got 3% so I'm doing pretty well and better than most people in public sector tbh.
