If they get too long, you must trim them.
Do this regularly to make sure they don't become overgrown, more than a few mm from the finger is too long and will look feminine and unkept. This is the biggest nailmaxx step.

Wash your hands regularly and Take showers
Make sure to wash inside your nail too to remove any dirt buildup to give it an overall clean appearance, in the shower do the same for your toes
3.
(Optional) Use a moisturizer on your hands and feet
This will keep them healthy and not overly dry
If you do these steps correctly your nails should be close to ideal
