I had a rap phase for a month or two around the time i was 16 - mainly listened to artists like kanye, mf doom. nas or nwa, very mainstream.

I stopped listening to it pretty quickly and now i can't really stand it, except maybe kanye, he's still fine.

Underground rap is genuinely unlistenable, i'd rather have my earholes drilled in and filled with hot sauce, especially mumble rap. I listen to metal mainly now with some jazz here and there.

Someone might record a tune off the radio, or be lucky enough to get an .mp3 file.

We'd stick a bunch of phones in the middle of a table and transfer tunes via bluetooth.

It was our version of sharing records.
